Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing accurate and compliant payroll operations, managing payroll-related regulatory requirements, and maintaining strong internal controls over the payroll function. This role has one direct report responsible for day-to-day payroll processing and works closely with Human Resources on employee data, benefits, and compensation matters.

The Opportunity:

• Review and approve payroll runs processed by the payroll team, including off-cycle payments, bonuses, commissions, and payroll corrections.
• Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for UKG Ready Payroll, overseeing system configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Oversee multi-state payroll compliance, including payroll tax withholding, registrations, reporting, and adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations.
• Own year-end payroll processes, including W-2s, W-2 corrections, 1099s, payroll tax filings, and support for payroll-related audits.
• Design and maintain payroll internal controls, including approval workflows, segregation of duties, payroll reconciliations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Manage and develop payroll operations, including supervising the payroll processor, partnering with HR on employee lifecycle transactions, and ensuring accurate payroll and benefits processing.

What you bring:

• 5-7 years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll and compliance
• Prior experience managing or leading payroll staff strongly preferred
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation preferred
• Experience with payroll and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paylocity)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field
